Besides the books mentioned by Manav & Ashwin, I would also like to point out The Palace of Illusions & the relatively recent Karna's Wife: The Outcast's Queen. The first one is from Panchali's POV and should arguably be far from from Karna.

But t. Karna (Sanskrit: कर्ण, IAST: Karṇa), also known as Vasusena, Anga-raja, Sutaputra and Radheya, is one of the major characters in the Hindu epic Mahābhārata. He is the spiritual son of Surya (the Sun deity) and princess Kunti (later the Pandava queen).

Kunti was given a boon to have child with desired qualities of divine gods. To know whether the boon was correct or not, she invoked Children: Vrishasena and Vrishaketu.

Karna's Wife: The Outcast's Queen is a splendid tale of Karna, the unsung hero of Mahabharata, told from the perspective of his wife Uruvi. This book renders a unique view of karna's life as never seen before. The story is written in the genre of magic realism, retelling the classic story of Karna from a /5(17).

The Karna Parva (Sanskrit: कर्ण पर्व), or the Book of Karna, is the eighth of eighteen books of the Indian Epic Parva traditionally has 96 chapters.

The critical edition of Karna Parv has 69 chapters. Karna Parva describes the appointment of Karna as the third commander-in-chief of the Kaurava alliance. The Parva recites how war begins to tire and frustrate.

Karna's Wife is a misleading title. Unlike The Palace of Illusions which focuses on Draupadi's story, Karna's Wife simply uses Uruvi, Karna's wife, as a narrative device.

The sole focus of the story is Karna. There is not one dialogue that isn't spoken about Karna or /5. The book gives attention to well-known forms such as haikai or haiku, as well as ancient songs, comic poems, and linked verse. Each chapter provides examples of a genre in chronological order, followed by notes about authorship and other contextual details, including the time of composition, physical setting, and social occasion.

Karna Stories. Refine by tag: karna This book contains some of the mythological shots written by me. You can place a request if you want to read on a particular character:) Cover made by @kriti32 These are poems written to express the true feelings of a character in Mahabharat on an other character and also random poems which I tried.

Karna’s Alter Ego. Karna’s Alter Ego is written by Surendra Nath. The book is all about the mythological character Karna from Mahabharata. The book has a relatable and nicely-paced plot. The author has taken care to avoid long monologues. The character sketch of Vasu, as the alter ego of Karna, has been done beautifully and successfully.

The Karna Pages is quite different from the many books I have read on the subject. It was intriguing balancing the thrill of reading the story in both the timelines. Although the book needs a good editing but its a must read for every MB epic lover - the story of the dark mythical hero Karna in a different light/5.

Karna: [] by Rabindranath Tagore appeared in the collection of poems kaahinii * first published in Karna’s wife – The Outcast’s Queen, is a retelling of the epic Mahabharata, from the perspective of Karna’s second wife – Uruvi, the Princess of Pukeya, a kshatriya princess married to a sutaputra.

The narrative starts at Uruvi’s swayamvar; Karna is already a part of the dushta chathushtayam (the four examples of evil men), the others being Shakuni, Duryodhana and Dushasana. KARNA’S ALTER EGO (Dream House Publication ) received star-rating from 66 readers (goodreads). This book was selected by the national library (Raja Ram Mohun Roy Library Foundation) and distributed to state-level libraries.

KARNA’S CELESTIAL ARMOR is the sequel that is doing well as an indie eBook. Indeed, ‘Karna’s Wife‘ by Kavita Kane is an eye-catching novel. Set in the backdrop of the Kurukshetra, this time we stand on the other side of the battle.

True that we have been bought up listening to the stories of Mahabharata from Pandava’s point of view but this time, it’s different. Karna was an epitome of generous & loyal person.

He is the one character in Mahabharat whom I adore the most. The wife of a cursed person, Uruvi has also faced many discriminations like Karna but her love towards Karna was spellbound. The last pages of this book will definitely make you cry. A must must read for those who love mythology.5/5.

In the middle of the war, Krishna even told Arjuna that Karna was indeed a real warrior, and far better than him. Karna reminds us of the saying ”Tough times never last, but tough people do.” 7. Karna's life had more tragedies than most others in the Mahabharata.

In the war, all Karna's sons, except one, were killed by the : Surabhi Nijhawan. Book 8: Karna. Duryodhana begins to grasp that his campaign is doomed, but at Karna's request, he appoints Karna the new commander of his army. Karna and Arjuna meet on the battlefield in a bloody exchange, in which Karna is slowly brutalized and killed.

Book 9: Salya. Salya is appointed the next and, ultimately, final commander of Duryodhana's. In the yearthe India Book House people published her "Easy Stories from The Mahabharata" which has now gone into its fourth edition.

The present little book, "Suryaputra Kaunteya {The Story of Kama, the Great)" is a good successor to this one, intended for children of a higher age group. I have no doubt that it will be a success. This is the major book of the war.

Most of the great warriors on both sides are dead by the end of this book. 8 Karna Parva (The Book of Karna) 73 The continuation of the battle with Karna as commander of the Kaurava forces. 9 Shalya Parva (The Book of Shalya) 74–77 The last day of the battle, with Shalya as commander.

Hi All, I bought this book out of curiosity just like any other book of Veer Karna. To be honest it's a disappointment. When you read the book name "THE KARNA PAGES" the first thought that striked my mind is some new tail, some really hidden Karna pages, some more meaningful path for Karna's ever glory but this book just narrates what we saw in visual on our TV channels.4/5(1).

While India has long been known for gender bias, female feticide, and other gender related issues, it is interesting to note that women played an important, indeed a dominant role, in ancient India. This is amply reflected in Indian mythology, Vedas, and epics.

Great Indian Poems — Editor’s Note and 8 poems EDITOR’S NOTE –Abhay K. I chanced upon my father’s worn-out copy of this book at home when I was in class four. do not find a place in the anthology of great Indian poems.

For the similar reason of untranslatability, several other great poems could not fit into this anthology. In the West Krishna is primarily known as the speaker of the Bhagavad Gita.

But it is the stories of Krishna's childhood and his later exploits that have provided some of the most important and widespread sources of religious narrative in the Hindu religious landscape.

This volume brings together new translations of representative samples of Krishna religious literature from a variety of Reviews: 1.In gratitude, Karna pledged his loyalty to Duryodhana forever. Bad choice, Karna. Then Karna's earthly father showed up, basically demonstrating that Karna was not, in fact royalty.

Bhima thought this was hilarious, and proceeded to insult Karna. Duryodhana argued that the true source of kingship was not in birth--a fairly radical idea. Why Karna Deserved More Respect Than Other Warriors In The Mahabharata The Mahabharata is one of the most important scriptures of Hin As Arjuna would have died if Karna had had the armour, Indra (Arjuna’s father] went in disguise and got the last armor of Karna, much before the war began pins.
